Reclamations 2021.

Reclamations is a ceremony performed by the Hazel Court Artis Society, reclaiming community and culture after the pandemic.

Influenced by a communal drinking vessel from the Bohemian era found in the V&A glass collection, Reclemations takes back the feeling of community as we began social distancing. I live with a creative community of over 30 members and there was no way to be distanced from each other in the pandemic. Humanity felt empty being socially distanced, and it wasn’t good for our health. I contemplate the need for community as survival, and the strangeness of separation.

October 2021 all of us gathered in the courtyard over a fire, I spoke a poem of Hafez in Farsi, and we all drank shiraz wine from the same glass together.
